Here we are at the close of 2014 and look what the Lord hath done. Lake Drummond Baptist Church planted a new church in Cross Trails Cowboy Church with Pastor Tim Kirkpatrick. Lake Drummond baptized 22 brothers and sisters in Christ this church year. Kids were saved at Vacation Bible School in August. Geri and I had the pleasure of leading precious souls to the Lord both in Mexico and Romania. Members of our church have stepped up to be part of the core group that keeps the logistics of Cowboy Church a reality every Saturday night at Triple R Ranch. A young lady just confessed Jesus as her Saviour on the last night of Awana Clubs while the clubs were celebrating His birth! These are all causes for celebration!
Do you know that everything said above did not take place in over 75% of the 45,000 Southern Baptist Churches last year? Yet, let us rejoice, reflect, and move on. Jesus has given us a command and it’s called the Great Commission. We are to go, tell, baptize and disciple in His name.
Do you know that churches are closing their doors at an alarming rate? Just the other day I read an article from a president of a vast Baptist Institution and it was titled, “Leading a Church to Die Well Rather Than to Live Poorly.” I couldn’t believe it. I know there are times in the church when the workers are few, when the workload seems too immense, the days just don’t seem long enough and the timing just isn’t there for doing the ministry just the way you thought it should be done. Yet, Jesus has commanded us to go . . . not give up. He’s commanded us to tell . . . not shut-up. He’s commanded us to baptize . . . not dry up. And He’s commanded us to disciple . . . not to tie up.
I thank God that Lake Drummond Baptist Church is a body of believers that believe the Word of God and stand on it, walk in it and persevere with it. May we continue to be in the world but not of it and share the precious news of the Saviour until He comes to bring us home.
What’s this precious news? That Christ, who’s birth we celebrate this season, died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. Now, why is this good news? Because if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. Isn’t this great news?!! Just ask Jesus to take His rightful place as Lord of your life and you shall be saved!
I pray each and everyone knows Jesus as Lord this holiday season and every day.
May you and yours have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Blessings from my KING!
Pastor Buddy
