Buddy Hoggard serves as the Senior Pastor of Lake Drummond Baptist Church. Buddy and his wife, Geri, have three adult children and ten grandchildren.
Buddy was born at Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. He was raised in Norfolk in the Norview area except for a five-year stint in Smithfield, VA from ’70 to ’75. As a teenager, Buddy attended Norview Baptist Church in Norfolk. In the fall of 1984 during a “New Christians” class Buddy came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. While at Norview Baptist he was ordained a deacon and served as a Sunday school teacher as well as Young Adult Department Director. He also served as a member of Norview’s Pastor Search Committee in the late 1980’s.
Buddy and his family moved to Chesapeake and moved their membership to Great Bridge Baptist Church. While at Great Bridge, he served as Sunday School Department Director and Teacher, Deacon, chaired the Deacon Ministry Proclamation Committee & Pastor Search Prayer Team, and taught multiple discipleship training classes including “Baptist History”, “The Baptist Faith & Message” and “An Understandable History of the Bible.”
Prior to entering full time ministry Buddy worked as a utility electrician with the local power company for 3 decades. In the mid-1990’s Buddy knew he was being called of the Lord to the ministry of preaching the Gospel. He started seminary classes in 2002 and began pulpit supply ministry. He served in churches in Knotts Island and Roanoke Rapids NC, Chesapeake, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach VA. Buddy served as pulpit supply starting July 1st, 2007 here at Lake Drummond Baptist Church and was called and voted unanimously to be our Pastor on November 7th, 2007.
